⚠️ Extreme Altitude Warning — 5,883m

  • At 5,883m you have ~50% of sea-level oxygen. HACE/HAPE are real risks
  • Minimum 3-4 days acclimatization at 3,500m (Leh) before attempting
  • Diamox mandatory (consult your doctor). Carry emergency oxygen
  • ILP for Hanle/Umling La available ONLY at DC Office Leh — no online option
  • Temperature can drop to -15°C even in July. Full thermals required
  • BRO provides a "Certificate of World Record" at the summit board

Manali → Jispa → Sarchu → Leh | ~405 km
Standard Manali-Leh route. Jispa (3,100m) → Sarchu (4,253m) → Leh (3,500m). Baralacha La, Tanglang La. MANDATORY rest on arrival at Leh. Do NOT rush.

Leh Rest Day #1 | Critical
Full acclimatization. Light walking only. Collect SPECIAL ILP for Hanle/Umling La at DC Office — in person only, no online option. Takes a few hours.

South via Upshi, Chumathang hot springs, Nyoma. Rupshu Plateau. Hanle (4,500m) — Indian Astronomical Observatory (one of the world's highest). Overnight Hanle. Clear night sky like nowhere else.

Scenic ride across Rupshu plateau to Tso Moriri (4,522m). Korzok Monastery. Migratory birds. Remote, sacred lake.

💡 Pro Tip

The Hanle night sky is one of the clearest on Earth — bring a tripod for astrophotography. The Indian Astronomical Observatory is visible from the homestays. BRO provides an official "Certificate" at the Umling La summit — frame-worthy! Start the summit day no later than 6AM for best weather conditions.
